Despite the European eIDAS regulation claiming that a person can sign a document with their national eID (like the Estonian ID card) and have it valid throughout Europe, the reality is very different on the ground.
Different standards, different levels of signing, and a lack of good documentation make it hard for cross-border signing and validation to occur. I'll tell you the key learnings our little startup has had in the last year as we try to bring together all national eIDs and remote signing services.
